Just wanted to start a thread about riding in the extreme heat thats on it's way. I know there's something to do to prepare a bike so you don't end up with problems from the heat.
The heat in Arizona (and any other HOT places) is very hard on batteries.
- I try to trickle charge mine often to keep it healthy.
- Tires - Inspect them often for defects, nails, cracks, etc... and be sure to have the correct air pressure. Wrong air pressure + heat could end in disaster
- The cooling system should be inspected, radiator cleaned of bugs and debri. Cooland should be flushed, but how often? and what is the best coolant to run in the heat? Any other tips to help the bike run cooler?
I'm not a mechanic by trade, so I hope some experienced wrenchers will chirp in and provide some good info. I want to make sure my ride doesn't break down this summer when it's 100+ out.
Let's get this topic going. Summer is coming.
