So I was thinking about selling my 450 to get something a little newer, and I posted it on criags list.
Well some dude asked if it has a title, and I replied that it does not, and doesn't need one because it's not a street legal machine....
his reply, "I wouldn't be able to consider this one if there is no title, but thank you for the reply."
I've never had a title on any dirtbike I've ever owned, so I think to myself, why does this guy need a titile? I mean i could see why if you wanted to make it street legal, but this is a straight motorcross bike. it doesn't have the wiring to put blinksrs or headlight, no good place for a license plate, and the $900 exhaust would never pass emissions... so what the hell?
thoughts anyone? why would you need a title for a dirtibike?
Pete doesn't live in cali, you dont need a title for a dirtbike. Just the registration paperwork. just type up a quick bill of sale and the two of you sign it.
yeah thats just odd i guess. I've never had a title for a dirtbike... or registration anything.
in Colorado I was able to get OHV tags at Fay Meyers for $30 bucks to be legal on state trails, and they didn't say anytihng about title or registration.
in Arizona, unless you just ride in your back yard somewhere in the tumbleweeds of buckeye, you need a title! If you go to the dunes, you need a title to get your sticker, if you want to insure it, you need a title, if you want to register it, you need a title, if you want to sell it or trade it, you will definately need a title, if you want to travel to another state or even rocky point, you most definately need a title.. I've had a bike stolen before and imagine how easy it was for that guy to sell it to someone else on craigslist. The downsides to not having a title outweigh the very small burden of just titling your bike. Takes a few weeks and some work at dmv but you can do it. protect your ride, avoid the hassle, get the paper!
Mine auh Dissappeared later to find out it was a family deal.....my fn brother.....and one of the fist things the cop aked me was can I see the title. I thought the same thing. He told me the title is the only forsure way to show you are the owner.
