This bike is fucking sick. I think we may have a new champion. And at roughly 13 grand it's one hell of a deal for what you get.
BMW Motorrad has just taken the wraps off of their newest supersports machine, the 2010 BMW S 1000 RR, at the legendary Monza Racing Circuit. Usually I am pretty unfased by the deluge of yearly motorbike releases, but I can't hold back on this one...
Not only is the power-to-weight ratio of the new 2010 BMW S 1000 RR pretty insane but this Superbike also comes equipped with a Race ABS system and DTC Dynamic Traction Control, the first bike of its kind. The bike offers various riding modes for Rain, Sport, Race and Slick conditions. Even with all these added mechanical systems and a full tank and fluids, the S 1000 R only weighs 455.3 lbs. This bike has a rev limited to 14,200 rpm and puts out maximum torque of 82.5 lb-ft at 9,750 rpm. One other interesting tidbit is that BMW's new superbike comes with an optional HP Gearshift Assistant that allows for up-shifts without using the clutch, which means no torque interuption.
